Federal and State Official to pursue misclassified employees


Government officials are going after businesses that try to misclassify employees as independent contractors.


The New York Times published a very interesting article today stating it will be aggressive going after all businesses that mis-classify workers. President Obama expects to yield roughly $7 Billion over the next 10 years.

A growing number of companies have reduced costs by misclassifying employees as independant contractors, even though they are given desks, phones, assignments, like all typical employees.

By doing so, companies can avoid paying Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment insurance taxes.
