Recent Reuters articles show that the home construction market in the United States began the year on a high note in January.
Housing starts rose 2.8% in January to an annual rate of 591,000, commerce department figures showed on Wednesday. Which is stronger than economists expected and marked a rebound from December’s drop.
Residential construction has come a long way from a last year, with January housing starts 21% higher than the same month of 2009.
In January new residential construction was concentrated in multi-family housing, where buildings with 5 or more units saw an increase of 17.6%. Single-family home construction increased 1.5%.
